You would have a tough time finding a better winding road dance partner than the Audi S6. Discreetly sporting a 5.2 liter, FSI, 435 HP V10 with 6 speed tiptronic the S6 cannot be called anything less than thrilling. The 3.33 bore x 3.65 stroke with a 12.5 to 1 compression ratio delivers 435 Hp and 398 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000-4,000 rpm.
While the everyday Audi A6 is considered the Buick of Europe and barely budges the sales meter in the US, with the addition of the new V10 Audi has transformed the S6 into a performance enhanced Autobahn mile-eater
that is more Sportlux than Luxsport. A suspension aligned specifically to the performance characteristics of the S6 prevents undesired longitudinal and transversal body movements. This increased stability means the S6 even performs well on the less than ideal driving surfaces found in so many parts of the US.
In appearance there are only subtle clues that this is an S version. The V10 badge on the front fenders for sure, LED daytime running lights and large air inlets are unique to the S as are the oval quad exhaust tips. The S versions ride on 19-inch 5 arm "wing design" cast alloy wheel with 265/35 R19 summer performance tires. Other S6 specific items: Iconic Audi single frame grille in platinum gray with dual vertical chrome stripes and S6 badge, front fenders with wheel wells flared aproximately 14 mm wider, rear diffuser, black painted brake calipers with S6 badge on front calipers, front bumper with distinctive spoiler lip and S6 specific rear bumper, Rear spoiler on trunk lid, aluminum optic exterior mirrors, door trim accents, platinum gray background in headlight housing, fog lights in headlight housing, and finally, exposed dual exhaust oval poilished quad tailpipes.
But even the exhaust snarl doesn't draw undo attention - until the fly-by-wire throttle is hammered. At that point you have about 5.1 seconds to reach 60 mph, and anything left on the floor will remain there until the next traffic light.
